MSNBC Photo Analysis # 6

Mother and child stare at the broken glass in their destroyed home.
RULE OF THIRDS - Eye is automatically drawn towards the little boy and his mother, making the picture portray a lot of emotion.
CONTRAST - The vibrant shade of red placed against a dull overall colour like brown really makes the focus of the photo pop.

MSNBC Photo Analysis # 5

Husband and wife are re-united after being seperated for more than two months. Husband was trapped in a mine.
BALANCE - The main subjects of the photo were placed off-center, leaving room in the picture to see the people in the background clapping.
VIEWPOINT - You can tell that this photo was taken at a more worm's eyeview angle, and this adds to the overall effect.

MSNBC Photo Analysis # 4

Playfight tackle by opposite members of a children's football team.
SIMPLICITY - The photograph's main point of focus is on the little boys, and nothing else.
DIRECTION OF MOVEMENT - The children appear to be moving right into the photograph.

MSNBC Photo Analysis # 3

Children in Romania enjoy the fall leaves.
CONTRAST - The black coat against the warm colour of the fall leaves stands out brilliantly.
FRAMING - The leaves in the air capture the position of the little boy and appear to be falling right into the photograph.

MSNBC Photo Analysis #2

Little boy running to re-unite with his mother.
CONTRAST - The light colouring of the boy's coat is brought out over the navy colouring of all the women's coats.
DIRECTION OF MOVEMENT - The little boy's movement is caught extremely well in this photograph in my opinion, it has an emotional feel to it.

Cutting Slumdog Millionaire - An Interview with Academy Award Winning Editor, Chris Dickens

I saw Slumdog Millionaire this summer and before I watched it I didn't think it would be a movie that I enjoyed. I ended up really liking it a lot, because it was completely different than I thought. It was interesting, different from any other movie and the artistry added a lot to the overall impact of the film, which I find is rare for a movie that grosses a lot of money in the box office. Dickens clearly did an amazing job editing the film into what it is today because he won multiple awards and is on his way to editing many more huge box office movies. I honestly think that Chris Dickens will be an editor whose movies I look out for, simply because the way he put together Slumdog Millionaire was intricate and still kep't the audiences' attention extremely well. Dickens, in my opinion, has a lot of talent and potential for the future.

New Macbook by Apple?

Woooow Apple is coming out with so many new things that its starting to sound like a bit much. I won't try to deny that this new Mac sounds really cool and revolutionary, but there has honestly been a stampede of products that Apple has released lately. Since there has been so many recent releases and gadgets, I'm personally becoming more and more disinterested whenever I hear about a new Apple electronic. If I were Steve Jobs, I would seperate the extremely new and revolutionary products out a lot more, rather than spacing all the release dates together. I think that the items would seem a lot more exciting, and people would buy more if this were the case.

127 Hours

This looks like a really good movie! I haven't seen a commercial for a movie that looks like it will be decent in quite a while. The producers of the short ad did a good job in my opinion; they included a perfect amount of suspence and left the audience in a genuine state of wonder. Tidbits about the film that I've heard, like that the main character has to self-amputate his arm in order to survive, makes me more eager to see 127 hours. When I first heard about the film, my first thoughts were about Grade 10 english and Lord of the Flies. I wondered and still wonder if the main character of the movie will begin to portray similar or the exact same traits as characters from the Lord of the Flies. If I get the chance, I probably will go see this movie in theaters because it looks quite interesting!

iPhone 4

A lot of articles based on the iPhone 4 appear to be looking for flaws in the software, but my mind is still set to having one. The screen may be more delicate and the battery may die a little bit more quickly than iPhone 3G, but I think it is still worth owning due to the other cool new features. The other things that Apple has added to the iPhone - such as FaceTime, iBook, folders and a computer-like screen, are a perfect explanation for the slight change in battery life and screen sensitivity. I don't think that journalists should be criticizing every tiny little thing because a product can only get so good, and its impossible for it to be perfect. I definitely am still saving up my money to buy one. :)

Harry Potter VS. Twilight

Daniel "Harry Potter" Radcliffe and Robert "Edward Cullen" Pattinson.

THIS ARTICLE MADE ME REALLY MAD. It was definitely a little bit biased and against Harry Potter, while I'm biased and against Twilight. I think it was a tad biased because it only retrieved opinions from 13-year old girls, who are the primary audience of Twilight movies and books. I think the article would have been more accurate had it included an opinion from a guy or from an older and more mature girl. If the writers of the article had done so, it definitely may have sounded less one-sided. The Twilight books do, in my opinion, have some depth and the author does know how to write extremely well. But since I've read both Harry Potter and Twilight, I can compare and say that the Harry Potter books were written better and keep you a lot more entertained and withdrawn, whereas I thought Twilight had a lot of boring parts and didn't keep me interested. The Twilight BOOKS are okay and the Harry Potter books are amazing, but I think the Twilight movies are horrible. The acting is awful and the production made the "okay" books look even worse. I won't argue that the Harry Potter movies are better than the books, because that is rarely the case with a really good book, but the movies are definitely a whole lot better than Twilight movies.

Paranormal Activity Two (forgotten blog post from last week)

I really REALLY did not like this movie trailer and thought it was a waste of a minute and nine seconds. I personally thought that it didn't have much of a point to it, and didn't show that the sequel to Paranormal Activity is going to be any better than the first. I think that a commercial is good if it attracts the audience's attention and leaves them feeling a little bit of awe, meanwhile I believe this movie trailer satisfied neither of those standards. I definitely don't think I'll be seeing this movie in theaters unless my friends force me to. Renting it after it comes out on DVD? I probably will do so with my friends, so I can laugh at it.
